General Information
This is a great rural location for those seeking places to walk or ride bikes: you can stroll directly from the cottage into woodlands and green countryside, or set out to see places like Pot House Hamlet and the historic site of the Huskar Pit disaster. The Silkstone Waggon way is close by for cyclists and walkers, and more intrepid bike riders might like to note the cottage is just off the Trans Pennine Trail. Any one for a game of golf? Silkstone Golf Club, welcomes visitors and it’s a great course. The Peak District National Park is but a few miles away…
Staying in a rural village doesn’t mean being cut off you can be enjoying a walk through the woods and along the stream in just 2 minutes from the cottage gateway. We are really lucky to have 2 great pubs, within in walking distance, The Red Lion Silkstone and The Station Silkstone Common, famous for its Fish & Chip supper, (Thursday and Fridays) looking for somewhere to enjoy a piece of cake and a coffee – Riley’s at the Potting Shed is a must – www.pothousehamlet.co.uk. A restaurant in walking distance we have that too – The Bells Bar & Kitchen, www.thebellssilkstone.co.uk The local coop is also on your door step for supplies or why not visit the fabulous farm shop at Cannon Hall Cawthorne – www.cannonhallfarm.co.uk.
This place is amazing, super comfy and cozy, there's an amazing astetic to it. Furniture and beds are very comfortable. Good room to put clothes and luggage. Facilities there is pretty much everything you need cooking wise extra light bulbs etc, more that anywhere else I've been. For me the best time to visit would be autumn/winter time, as although the cottage is next too the petrol station inside the house you can't really here the traffic but if you do sit outside you can here everything, but as stated indoors you can't hear anything. The people in the area as well as the pubs are really friendly, something you don't get in the cities. Perfect holiday!
